NSW:Union in legal challenge over US firms labour hire practices
SYDNEY, Jan 14 AAP - A manufacturing union has instigated legal action against a UScompany over its treatment of workers from labour hire firms in Australia.
The Australian Manufacturing Workers's Union (AMWU) claims that ResMed has sacked 10casual workers from its NSW operation to avoid making them permanent.
The ResMed group of companies is a world leader in developing technology for treatingsleep disorders.
Its plant at Waterloo Road, North Ryde, Sydney employs 600 people - about 150 of themthrough labour hire firms.
